When installing real hardwood pickup rings, its important to remember that stress can cause cracks and following this installation guide should help avoid them.
These pickup surrounds have 2.9mm mount holes and will require preparation if using countersunk screws.
Countersunk screws have a wedge effect when tightened and should not be tightened excessively as this wedge effect can split the ring.
We use 8mm deep beech inserts on the underside mounting ends of our pickup rings to add strength to what would normally be an easily snapped part of wooden rings.
